Weak networks & reconnecting
Built for bad signal. Walk out the door, step into a lift, ride the subway — your sessions keep up with you.
Most remote tools work fine on good Wi-Fi and fall apart on the way to work: a spinner that never ends, a "reconnect" button, a reply that arrives twice or not at all. Seedmux for iPhone was tuned on real mobile networks — switching between Wi-Fi and 5G, in lifts and tunnels — until none of that happens.
- Home Wi-FiTalks to your Mac directly over the local network.
- Out the doorSwitches to cellular by itself, mid-sentence.
- In the liftNo signal. Your sessions stay on screen to read.
- Back onlineReconnects in seconds and catches up on everything new.
You don't do anything
There is no reconnect button, because you never need one. Whenever the connection drops — you left Wi-Fi, the train went underground, the phone slept in your pocket — Seedmux notices and gets back on its own. Usually you won't even see it happen.
Wi-Fi to cellular, mid-sentence
At home, the phone talks to your Mac directly over the local network. Step outside and it moves to cellular through the relay by itself — and back to the local network when you come home.
- Fast on cellular. The phone remembers how to reach the relay, so the first connection after a network switch starts right away instead of waiting on a slow lookup.
- No false alarms. When the network flickers back and forth as you leave Wi-Fi, stale attempts are dropped instantly, so they can't get in the way of the connection that works.
- Carrier-friendly. The official relay uses the same kind of secure connection as any website, so mobile networks don't cut it off the way they sometimes cut unusual traffic.
Back in seconds, caught up at once
When the phone reconnects — or you come back to the app after a while — your Mac sends the session list and everything new straight away. You see what happened while you were gone within moments of opening the app, not after a series of round trips.
A reply that was still being written when the signal dropped arrives in full once you're back.
Nothing lost, nothing twice
Every message has its place in order. After a gap, the phone fills it in until it's fully caught up — no matter how long you were away — and never shows the same message twice or skips one in between.
Readable with no signal at all
The phone keeps its own copy of your conversations. Open the app in a tunnel or on a plane and your sessions are right there to read; when the connection comes back, the new parts are added on. Opening the app from scratch shows your sessions instantly, before the network has even connected.
That copy is only ever added to. Closing a session or unpairing a machine doesn't erase what's already on your phone.
When the other side restarts
Your Mac's background service restarts after an update; a Linux host updates itself overnight. The phone reconnects on its own within seconds, and agents running in the meantime are never interrupted.
Many machines, each on its own
Each host has its own connection. A server that's offline doesn't slow down the others, and each host's page tells you plainly whether it's connected, connecting, or why it isn't.
VPNs and proxy apps
Seedmux works alongside VPN and proxy apps on your phone: it goes around them when it can, so a proxy that can't reach your Mac doesn't leave you stranded. If your VPN is mandatory and can't be turned off, enable Allow VPN in the app's settings so Seedmux routes through it.
Prefer your own relay?
Everything here works the same with a relay on your own server.
