Agents at a glance

Seedmux knows which agent is running in every pane, and what it's doing right now.

Supported agents

Claude Code, Codex, Grok, OpenCode, Kimi Code, Pi, Antigravity and Devin. Start them from the menu or type the command yourself in any pane — Seedmux picks them up either way, on your Mac and on remote hosts.

Reading the status marks

Every agent tab shows its state at the end of its row in the sidebar, using the same marks everywhere in Seedmux:

MarkMeaning
SpinnerThe agent is working
Orange dot, breathing slowlyIt's waiting for you — a permission prompt or a question
Green dotIt finished while you weren't looking
Small hourglassA background command it started is still running
NothingIdle, or a plain shell

When a permission prompt is waiting, the row also says which tool it wants to use. Collapsed groups and split tabs show the most urgent state of everything inside them, so one glance at the sidebar tells you whether anything needs you.

The tab icon also changes to the agent's logo, so you can tell Claude from Codex without reading the title.

The Agents panel

Agents in your other spaces are listed in the Agents panel at the bottom of the sidebar. A job finishing in your Research space still shows up while you're heads-down in Work. When the panel is collapsed, its header shows the most urgent state across all of them; hover to see how many are in each state.

Context usage

Panes running Claude Code, Codex, Grok, OpenCode, Kimi or Pi show how full the agent's context window is, so you can see when a long session is about to run out of room.

New Agent menu

Click + next to the space name (or right-click a group) and choose New Agent ▸ to open a tab with that agent already running. Inside a group, the new tab starts in the group's folder.

Skip permission prompts (YOLO)

Settings › Agent has a switch for each agent: when it's on, agents you start from Seedmux run without asking for permission on every command. The same setting applies when you type claude or codex yourself inside a Seedmux pane, so an agent behaves the same however you launched it. Passing a permission flag yourself always wins. Your own terminal outside Seedmux is never affected.

Codex images

When Codex generates images, the pane header shows how many you haven't looked at yet. Click it to open them in the inspector's Info tab — full-size preview, Quick Look, drag them out, or copy them.
